HOW DOES IT WORK?

These are the key stages in our 'Patrol & Response' service:

1) You appoint KeyPlus as your No. 1 key holder
Once we’re in control, you won’t ever need to lose a night’s sleep because of your intruder or fire alarms. If an alarm is activated at your property, our experienced control centre personnel take the call from your monitoring station (there is no need for you, your friends, neighbours or colleagues to respond).

2) We respond to any alarms
As soon as we’ve received the call, one of our Response Officers will be given the keys to your property, together with instructions agreed with you during our initial survey. The Response Officer will be dispatched immediately and on arrival at your property will, if appropriate, conduct an external patrol.

3) If necessary, we enter the property
If there are signs of intrusion, we will seek police assistance. We will then only enter the property if accompanied by police officers. - If there are no obvious signs of intrusion, our Response Officer will enter the building, following the agreed instructions. He will make his way to the alarm system and silence it, taking note of the activated areas displayed on the keypad. He will then examine these areas. If possible, the problem will be rectified, the alarm system reset, and the property left secured.

4) We deal with any false alarms
If the alarm system can’t be reset, the alarm company will be contacted for an out of hours engineer to repair the fault. At no time will the property be left unattended unless you expressly wish it. Please note that alarm engineers can sometimes take up to four hours to attend.

5) We produce a report
Once the alarm has been dealt with, our Response Officer will return and security seal your keys and instructions in accordance with the insurance guidelines. A typed report will be sent to you by email, fax or post. This will give details of the time of arrival, our observations, our actions and the time of departure.

6) We follow up our actions
During the next working day, a member of our operational management team will contact you to follow up the report and to ensure that everything has been carried out to your satisfaction.

A cautionary tale

Joanne received a phone call whilst on holiday to say that her company’s alarm had activated and was causing problems with the neighbours! She was unable to contact her colleague in the UK. Joanne didn't have any other listed key holders, as two had recently left the company and had not been replaced.

Joanne panicked but was unable to do anything. The police would no longer attend an alarm as the key holders had failed to attend within the 20 minute police guideline on several occasions. In desperation, she contacted her father in the UK, and he reluctantly agreed to drive around the building’s perimeter.

On her return, Joanne received a letter from the council as neighbours had complained about the screaming siren and wanted it silenced. She wished she was still on holiday! She now had an inoperative alarm system; a council bill; and would have to pay out even more money to have the alarm repaired again...
