Do businessess tend to place a greater value on their ‘Assets’ than than they do on their ‘People’?
We recently trialled a telesales company and now feel that business owners and decision makers place a greater emphasis on their buildings, IT, equipment and stock. The people they employ and whose safety and well-being they are responsible for seem to appear much lower down their list of priorities!
They are quite happy to pay for perimeter fencing, external lighting, intruder alarms, CCTV cameras, monitoring fees and insurance policies but they are reluctant to pay a little extra to safeguard their people. These key holders are often tasked with the onerous duty of responding to incidents during the night, alone, without any prior training.
It’s hard to believe but our services represent between 3% and 5% of the total security spend yet this small amount ensures that the final link of the security chain is complete – i.e. the physical, rapid response of professionals trained to deal with potentially dangerous situations.

Hi Brian
Interesting question! I think people only start to value others when they no longer have them or think they are losing them!
If one of our major players was incapacitated on a call out, it could be a financial stumbling block.
So I am going to review our policies in light of this.
thanks
